Paul C.
Private tutor in Land O' Lakes, FL
Education
First Class Honors in English Language and Literature, University of Oxford. I came from a normal background and was the first person from my high school to get into Oxford. I won a few literary prizes before I went to Oxford, and became the Treasurer of Oxford University Literary Society, a group that was founded with the help of Dylan Thomas, as legend had it.
Experience
I've been a full-time private tutor for over twenty years since leaving Oxford University. I have taught in person and online internationally. Students from all countries are welcome. I'm a polymath, and conducted research in a range of subjects while at Oxford. I have taught most of the curriculum subjects: I've homeschooled several families in my time as a tutor, and I've helped dozens of students gain entrance into the best schools and universities. My main intellectual drive is to give students a sense of fascination even in things they previously thought were boring. A good few students over the years have started the tutorials with grade Ds in the subject, and have then gone on to A grades after my help. My professional purpose is to help in this way, and it's very satisfying to enable students to better themselves through learning in a good-humored environment. I enjoy the challenge of re-wording everything I'm saying until the student understands me completely; the tutorial space is a special one where infinite patience is possible for the purpose of learning: a journey of intellectual discovery.

Hobbies
Like many people I enjoy traveling to new places around the world and experiencing different cultures; I'm also a keen mountain-biker and in the UK last year I completed a 100-mile canal-path circuit in one day. In England my main circuit every other day is fifteen miles up to the top of a large hill in Wuthering Heights countryside; in America I ride twenty miles out to the beach. They're both fun..
